Our Studio Recording experience

18/03/2010

After a weekend of recording in the Backing Dog studio we are making progress!

It was a long weekend shut in sound proof rooms and layering track on top of track but the results are sounding great.
We have recorded 6 songs:
  • I saw her Standing There
  • Mony Mony
  • Don't You Forget about Me
  • You Know Me
  • One Step Beyond
  • Alright
It all started by Nicks Drums being recorded along with guide vocals from Mark and a Basic Guitar guide from Guy.  Once the Drums where complete for all 6 songs it was Mr Bass man's turn.  Karl stepped up and had completed Drums and the two guide tracks to help record the bass track.

Next it was Ian's turn to strike a pose on the keyboards, each time the next instrument was added it sounded better and better!

Then it was time for the Guitars.  Guy performed a great guitar layer then Mark added his bits.

Finally it was Mark playing Sax on One Step Beyond and then Mark also adding lead vocals to each song.  Barking vocals came last!  Phew that was a long 2.5 days work.

We have yet to complete all songs and have 3 more left to add vocals to.  This should then be completed on the 28th March.

Once all the tracks have been laid down it's time for pre-production where the mix is adjusted and effects added to give reverb, delay and panning!! Exciting Stuff!!!

We are hoping to have the final CD in our hands before the end of April.  We will of course add samples to our website so you can all hear our studio efforts ;-) you will also be able to pick up your own CD at one of our gigs.

I'll keep you posted on progress.

Sax is on Fire!

30/01/2010

A new sound can be heard at our gigs from now on, it's the sound of Mark playing the Sax!  For the last few gigs "One Step Beyond" has gone down a storm with an immediate encore demanded on both occasions.  The plan is to add more songs that take advantage of Marks new found love to blow on his new instrument.

Come along to the next gig and let us know what you think!

The Leap Downend - A fantastic Night

08/11/2009

Last nights gig at the Leap in Downend was a fantastic night.  We started at 9:15 and played the first set until 10pm.  It was a packed pub and everyone enjoyed the first set and stayed for our second mammoth set which started at 10:30pm and ended at 00:10 in the morning a 1hour 40 minute blast that saw the dance floor taken over by many many party goers having fun and swinging their hips :-)

Thanks for your support.

Our next public gig is at the King Billy in Staple Hill on the 11th Decembers.

Hope to see you there.

Cheers

Tundra.

New Years Eve - Andy's Last Gig

01/01/2009

The New Yeas Eve gig at the St Georges Labour club went down a storm. In total we played for 3.5 hour over the night from 20:30-01:00 a mammoth gig. The crowd were fantastic and really enjoyed themselves.

Unfortunately it was not all happiness as, due to personal commitments, it was our lead guitarist Andy's last gig with the band.

Andy played a blinder of a gig, as did the rest of the band and he will be sorely missed.

Tndra would like to thank Andy for his dedication and involvement in making the band what it is today.

We would also like to thank Andy's partner Sharon for her support over the last 2 years. Sharon has attended pretty much all of our gigs and been a great help as our un-official sound engineer.

We wish Andy all the best in the future and hope that he will keep up the guitar playing.

We are currently working with a potential new guitarist and we will update you very soon with our progress!

Andy Leaving Tundra

16/11/2008

We are sad to report that our lead guitarist, Andy, has told the band he will be leaving at the end of the year. This is due to time pressures.

Andy has been in the band for over 2 years and both him amd his amazing riffs will be sorely missed by many of us.

We are currently searching out a suitable replacement and hope to be sorted by the New Year.

Busy Time Ahead

10/11/2008

The band have been playing in clubs and at private events over the past few months, hence not much happening on the local pub scene.

However, this should change and although we are comitted for more clubs and parties up until Xmas, we will be adding some pub gigs for the New Year very soon.

Tracking Down Tundra

30/08/2008

The band was took by surprise last night (29th Aug) in-between sets at the Crown Inn gig.

A social club in Knowle had planned to send a scout to the Rock the Billie Festival, after they learned that Tundra was headlining the event. However, the scout didn't make it, so 12 members of the club's committee decided to make the journey across town to watch the band at the Crown. After they listened to the first set, they promptly lined us up to appear at the club in 2009.

Thanks to Mark and co for making the effort and we are looking forward to our gig with you early next year !

Dolphin Gig Went Well

17/08/2008

Being that it was the first time we had played at the Dolphin Pub -Oldland, we were not sure how the night would go. I am please to report that it was a great success.

We even managed to play loud enough to trip the sound monitor which knocked out the vocals, keyboads and guitars, however the bass and drums were able to continue and Mark sang without a mic to bing Mony Mony to a respectable end :-)

Dave the landlord has invited us back on the 23rd of October, however this gig will be played as a 4 piece as Ian on Keyboards is not available.

Thanks to you all for coming along and making it a very enjoyable Thursday night!

Cheers Tundra.

Rock The Billy Disappointment

02/08/2008

Well, our anticipated "Top of the Bill" performance at the Rock The Billy Festival in Warmley this year was overshadowed by a few individuals that used the event to cause trouble resulting in the night being cut short for everyone. Tundra was due on stage at 10.00pm, after a slot by the Bolsheviks, but due to the over running of a number of bands before hand, we didn't get on until 10.20.

During our shortened set we performed 6 songs that went down very well, with the crowd taking advantage of the diverse mix of music we performed to take to the dance floor.

Unfortunately as mentioned our set was cut short by a further 15 minutes as the police demanded that the event end at 10:45.

Tundra would like to appologise to our fans who were expecting a 60 minute set but only received 25 minutes. I know a number of you had waited over 4 hours to see us, thank you for your committment and support, which we really appreciate, and of course, contribute to an event that raises money for a cancer charity.

Top of the Bill at Rock the Billy 2008

18/06/2008

Tundra have been asked to Top the Bill at the Rock the Billy festival on the 2nd August 2008. We will start our set at 10pm and intend to rock the night away!

The full line up is still to be confirmed but you can always be sure of a fantastic day of music and cheers!

Charity Gig at The Oak

23/03/2008

The band had a great time at the annual Royal Oak charity event in Chipping Sodbury this weekend.

The pub was absolutely packed (and very hot) and we went down a storm, despite a mad moment when someone leant against a socket and cut the power to Ian & Andy's instruments - that was a colourful moment, but luckily it happend during an instrumental number and the lads got away with it!.

Charity Event

11/03/2008

We are pleased to have been invited to play at a fundraising charity event at the Royal Oak Pub, High Steet, Chipping Sodbury on Sunday 23rd March from 4.00pm. This will be raising money for the Children's Hospice and other bands playing at this event include popular local band, 92 Vine.

See the Royal Oak website for more details Click Here

Mix up at the Farmhouse

01/02/2008

There was a bit if a mix-up at our recent short-notice booking at The Farmhouse in Yate. We arrived to find that another band from Weston-super-Mare were unpacking their gear in preparation to play!

It seems that the landlord had got his knickers in a twist and booked two bands for the same night.

Although we were given the green light to play, with the other band asked to leave, we felt that as they had come so far, it was a bit harsh on them, as they had been booked in for a few months. So told the management that we wanted them to play, and to their relief and gratitude to us, they played the gig.

It left us all up a creek without a paddle, but in the end we decided to have an early night.

It was a bit if a waste of an evening, but we did the right thing by our book!

We WILL be playing The Farmhouse on the 15th Feb though!!

No more music at the Golden Lion

25/01/2008

We are sad to report that rumours abound that the Golden Lion in Frampton Cotterell have had their music licence revoked - in addition, the landlords have reportedly been asked to resign by owners Greene King.

We have yet to verify this, but if it's true, we must take some portion of blame, as we had a bloody good night on New Year's Eve with the pub locals but I guess the local residents didn't have such a good time!

Tundra to play at Rock the Billy Festival 2008

01/01/2008

After a successful performance at the Rock the Billy Festival 2007 Tundra have been asked back for the 2008 event on the 2nd August, and this time as one of the main feature bands in the evening session.

This follows complaints from revellers that missed our morning slot at the 2007 event. The organisers had put us on late morning as the 'new boys' and then realised in horror how good we were. That'll learn 'em!

01/01/2008
